Olliver “Three Day Diary” Ledger
Introduction
This Ledger, like many other we have in the St Neot Historians Archive, was given to us by Agnes Olliver, thank you Agnes. So that this ledger and all of the other documents St Neot Historians own could be stored in a dry environment, and be accessible to the Public, Agnes gifted a room in the Barn next door to Cott (Agnes lived in Cott) to St Neot Historians. The rest of the Barn was purchased by the St Neot Parish Council, with a grant from DEFRA, on the understanding that the Historians would have a room in it for storage of the villages historical documents.
Many of the entries contained in this book are dated 1914, however its use was continued throughout January and February 1915. There is also an entry recording ingredients for St Noet School Cookery Class dated 1923.
Entries in the Charts towards the end of this book that are dated 1914 are in BLACK, entries dated 1915 are in PURPLE and the entry for 1923 in BLUE.
There are pink blotting paper inserts between many of the dated pages, sometimes these have been used for “casual accounting” and “assorted scribbling”. I would imagine, at some time after to dates of the accounts, a child has used the book for drawing in. Some pages are torn and have parts removed.
The page for August 20th, 21st, 22nd & 23rd of 1914 shows a record of ingredients supplied to the School Cookery Class, I have assumed that this is St Neot School.
